Hi James and Ellen,
Moses scribed a Pentateuch or five volumes of history, instructions and laws. Moses scribed his Pentateuchal tomes during the forty years that God had him do time in the Zin Desert. Moses was not alone during the forty years when he was doing time in the Zin Desert. Moses was preordained by God to lead a people group of guys, gals and kids – the Israelite people group, who God chose to be His specially chosen guys, gals and kids, back to the land of their patriarchs – which was the land of Canaan. Moses’ second Pentateuchal manuscript is the Exodus Book. The Exodus Book’s 40 chapters details backdrops before and incidents during the exodus and wanderings of the Israelite people group guys, gals and kids from the country of Egypt to the land of Canaan. Between 1876 B.C. when Jacob relocated with his family to the country of Egypt – because his second youngest kid – who was Joseph, had become an Egyptian vizier, and 1446 B.C. when an Egyptian Pharaoh finally gave Moses the go ahead to lead the Israelite people group of guys, gals and kids out of the country of Egypt to the land where Jacob – who had God change his name to Israel, Jacob’s dad – Isaac, and Jacob’s granddad – Abraham, had lived, there were in the Israelite people group over 600,000 guys who were at least twenty years old. Before eighty year old Moses – in 1446 B.C., returned to the country of Egypt, Moses – because he murdered an Egyptian guy who was physically abusing an Israelite guy, had to – in order to remain alive, survive for forty years in the Midian Desert’s wasteland. Before Moses fled to the Midian Desert, Moses had for forty years lived the easy life in an Egyptian Pharaoh’s residence where a Pharaoh’s daughter had taken him after she found him – right after he was born, floating in a tiny reed boat where she had gone to bathe in the Nile River. Leaving the fertile region of Goshen in the country of Egypt – which is where the Israelite people group guys, gals and kids were living, had not been something that the guys, gals and kids who were in the twelve Israelite people group tribal clans had hoped to do one day – even though the Egyptians were using the guys as indentured slaves, nor was it something that the Egyptian Pharaoh was about to let happened – as to give an okay to leave his country a large free labor pool of guys that was available to his people group guys to use discretionarily would have made him very unpopular with his own people group of guys. Because God wanted His specially chosen guys, gals and kids to live in the land of Canaan – which is where He promised Abraham that his extended family would become so large that it could not be counted, God orchestrated ten plagues that ultimately had the Egyptian Pharaoh – under pressure from his own Egyptian people group of guys and gals, allow the Israelite people group of guys, gals and kids to leave the country of Egypt and to head for the land that Abraham homesteaded.
The Exodus Book is Moses’ story. Moses begins his story by reminding his compatriots – the guys who were in his Israelite people group, how Egyptian guys were maltreating them. Moses then gives a synopsis of his birth that took place during a time when a Pharaoh attempted to stem the numerical growth of Israelite people group guys by killing all the Israelite tribal clans’ newborn boys, of his upbringing in a Pharaoh’s palace after his ma put him into a reed raft where a Pharaoh’s daughter would find him, of his mistake of slaughtering an Egyptian slave master which had him fleeing for his life and of his call that took place when God spoke to him through a burning bush to tell him that he was the guy who He had chosen and prepared to lead them back to the land of their forefathers’. Moses then enumerated in his Exodus account the ten plagues – water turning to blood, a frog evasion, gnats biting everyone, flies everywhere, livestock keeling over dead, boils covering bodies, hail destroying crops, locusts eating everything, a dense darkness and the death of all firstborn, which only affected Egyptian families and not Israelites families and which ultimately had the Egyptian Pharaoh throwing in the towel – letting the twelve Israelite people group tribal clans hit the road. The ten atypical ghastly events that the Israelite people group guys, gals and kids had to have eye witnessed happening to their Egyptian oppressors was then followed up by another anomalous incident that directly affected them when God opened up a dry path through the Red Sea that let them escape an Egyptian Pharaoh – who was having buyer’s remorse for letting them leave his country. God then began using a cloud pillar during the day and a fire pillar at night to lead His specially chosen guys, gals and kids where He wanted them to go.
The Exodus Book is an account of inexplicable happenings. The Exodus Book recounts the circumstance when God gave His specially chosen guys and gals a worship paradigm that was to have them only worship Him and a life paradigm that was to have them always to do what was right. God condensed into ‘Ten Commandments’ a series of mandates that He expected His specially chosen guys and gals to adopt as life norms. When God met with Moses on Mount Sinai, God gave His covenant expectations to His specially chosen guys and gals. God at this time gave to Moses the blueprint for a tabernacle in which His specially chosen guys and gals were to worship only Him. While Moses was meeting with God on Mount Sinai, God’s specially chosen guys and gals – led by Aaron – Moses’ bro, made a calf god out of gold to worship. Your grandpaa believes that an exodus with God is through unsighted faith.
